Hey,
I haven't used mdbootstrap, so I don't know if it has different classes than the default version of Bootstrap 4 or not, but, if the classes are entirely the same, you will be able to just include different css file and tweak stuff a bit to make it work.
However, if it has it's own styles and stuff, then it means that you will need to manually update all view files to make it look the way you want. You will start by adding CSS and JS files from mdbootstrap into the layout files, and then slowly update the actual pages, one by one.
